Is this the meaning of good governance?  More than five years later the huge sum of 1 eurocent is deducted from the salary. We thought the Commission would never go back more than 5 years to recover money from its staff. If the Commission considers staff to be an asset, it should treat them with respect and not recover 1 eurocent after more than 5 years. This way of doing remembers us of Ebenezer Scrooge, the principal character in Charles Dickens's 1843 novel, A Christmas Carol. He is a cold-hearted, tight-fisted and greedy man, who despises Christmas and all things which give people happiness.  His last name has come into the English as a byword for miserliness and misanthropy.  That is likely what is going to happen with the Commission if it continues to treat its staff in the present way.
